Backup Power Projects

Backup power that has never been tested is a hope, not a plan. These projects involve electrical loads, generators, batteries, transfer equipment, fuel systems, engineering, permits and utility requirements. Gridless Global helps the owner document critical-load priorities and operational goals for evaluation by the appropriately licensed contractor or engineer, organize and compare the proposals received, and keep documentation, budget and reported progress visible through commissioning and closeout. Sizing determinations, technical design, code compliance and installation are the responsibility of the licensed specialists engaged for the project.

Owner-side project advisory, coordination and administration from planning through closeout. Gridless organizes the people, information, documentation, budgets and decisions, while appropriately licensed contractors and professionals remain responsible for regulated work.

What we organize

What Gridless helps organize on your project

Talk to a project advisor
01

Standby generators

Air- and liquid-cooled units sized against a real load study, with gas supply, pad and exhaust engineered properly.

02

Automatic transfer switches

Whole-property or essential-loads switching, service-rated where required, with correct neutral handling.

03

Battery backup

Silent, emission-free backup that also earns its keep every other day through peak shaving.

04

Critical facility systems

Paralleled generators, N+1 redundancy, load banks and the testing regime that regulated facilities require.

05

Portable & interlock solutions

Lower-cost interlock kits and inlets for owners who prefer a portable unit, installed to code.

06

Maintenance & load testing

Scheduled exercise, oil and filter service, battery replacement and annual load bank testing.

How we work

A sequence that keeps the project honest

  1. 01

    Prioritise

Critical, desirable and non-essential loads separated and costed.

  2. 02

    Size

Generator or battery sized to measured starting and running loads.

  3. 03

    Install

Pad, fuel, exhaust, transfer switch and wiring delivered by the licensed specialists engaged for your project.

  4. 04

    Test

Live transfer testing under load before handover.

  5. 05

    Maintain

Scheduled service and exercise so it works when called on.

Common questions

Something not covered here? Ask us directly - we would rather answer it properly than have you guess.

Ask a question
Generator or battery?
Batteries are silent, need no fuel and save you money every day through peak shaving, but have a defined runtime. Generators run as long as fuel lasts, which matters for multi-day outages. Many of our customers install both, with the battery carrying short outages and the generator covering the long ones.
What size do I need?
That depends on which loads must stay live and on motor starting current, which is the usual reason undersized systems fail. A load study answers it - whole-house backup is often unnecessary, and essential-loads backup costs considerably less.
How often should it be serviced?
Annual service and weekly self-exercise at minimum. Critical facilities typically add annual load-bank testing. Most standby failures trace back to neglected batteries and stale fuel, both of which maintenance catches.

How licensed work is handled

Gridless Global provides owner-side advisory, project-administration and coordination services. Gridless does not perform regulated trade or professional work. Construction, installation, engineering and other services requiring licensure are separately performed by appropriately licensed independent professionals responsible for their own work. The scope Gridless can offer varies by jurisdiction.

Next step

Let us start with the numbers

A measured energy analysis tells you which improvements actually pay, and in what order. It is the cheapest thing we do and the most useful place to begin.

  • No-obligation consultation and budget guidance
  • Independent - we answer to you, not to a contractor
  • Incentives handled, permits tracked for you
  • Warranty paperwork collected and registered in your name
